Sometimes, when we try to install a package via package manager, the build process fail because system said that don’t have space left.

yaourt -S android-platform

Output:

==> Starting package()...
install: error writing '/tmp/yaourt-tmp-alex1a/aur-vmware-workstation/pkg/vmware-workstation/usr/lib/vmware/isoimages/windows.iso': No space left on device
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package().
    Aborting...
==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build .
==> Restart building vmware-workstation ? [y/N]
==> -------------------------------------------

Solution

Solution #1:

Increase the size of the /tmp partition (Fedora, ArchLinux):

sudo mount -o remount,size=8G,noatime /tmp;

Solution #2:

Edit yaourtrc file:

nano /etc/yaourtrc

Uncomment TMPDIR and change his value to:

TMPDIR="/home/$USER/tmp"
